With more people online than ever before, adopting strategies for connecting with potential candidates and their peers is essential. Likewise, it is important for you and your recruitment team to be prepared and ready for the latest methods of reaching candidates. It begins with how people access the Internet.
According to research conducted by The Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, 47% of all adults go online with a laptop using a Wi-Fi connection or mobile broadband card, while 40% of adults use the Internet, email or instant messaging on a mobile phone—which means 59% of adults now access the Internet wirelessly using a laptop or cell phone.
According to another report from Pew, cell phones are by far the most popular device among American adults, especially people under the age of 65. A full 85% of adults own cell phones, and most use the devices to access the Internet and/or send or receive emails.
So where are recruiters when it comes to mobile recruiting?
According to The Mobile Recruiting Survey conducted by Job Board Doctor, 40% of survey respondents say they have a mobile version of their career site, while 89% are using social media in combination with mobile techniques. Nevertheless, since 85% of adults own a cell phone, going mobile seems like the best way to reach candidates and tap into a large pool.
However, as with any other strategy, there are barriers. The top barrier to implementing mobile recruiting is lack of knowledge about mobile recruiting options.
