WEDDLE’s 2008 User’s Choice Award Winners

WEDDLE's, publisher of print guides to job boards, recently announced the winners of its 2008 User's Choice Awards: the only recognition in the global online employment services industry where actual users-job seekers, employers and recruiters-get to show their support. “In today’s challenging job market, it’s important to know the All Stars of the job board community. That’s what these 2008 User’s Choice Awards winners represent,” says WEDDLE’s Publisher, Peter Weddle. “Equally as important, they haven’t been selected by a panel of pundits, but by the working men and women who use those sites to find jobs and hire new employees.” There are now over 40,000 employment-related sites operating in the U.S. alone and an equal number operating elsewhere globally. According to WEDDLE’s, each year, the public is invited to visit it’s Web-site to cast their ballots for their favorite job boards. The thirty sites with the most votes at the end of the year are declared the User’s Choice Award winners. One-third of the 2008 winners are general-purpose job boards that serve a broad cross-section of professions, crafts, trades, industries and locations. The remaining two-thirds are niche sites that specialize in a specific industry, career field or geographic location. Five of the niche sites focus on the healthcare, biotech and pharmaceutical industries; three specialize in serving executives and senor level managers, and two focus on the IT field. All of the sites are U.S. based except Workopolis, which serves the Canadian market.
