According to new research from membership organization CompTIA, expanding your social presence can have positive impacts on your business operations. Lessons learned from Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn can help companies improve internal and external processes, but more importantly the study suggests businesses can improve communications, recruiting, customer relationships, and other processes by expanding social engagement beyond these well-known public sites and by empowering social enterprise tools.
The following were cited as the top five business benefits of employing social tools, which bring social capabilities to an organization’s process:
- Better communication with customers 61%
- Cost savings 51%
- Brand positioning 49%
- Real-time customer satisfaction 48%
- Potential lead generation 43%
Although social media may be a proven tool for communication, another research report, this one from staffing services firm Robert Half, finds that 55% of HR directors believe social media platforms are ineffective as a recruiting tool (only 30% using it to find candidates), 63% believe profiles on sites such as LinkedIn will not replace traditional CVs, and of those surveyed only 32% use social media to communicate with candidates.
Does this suggest social media is completely ineffective for recruiting candidates? Or is it just useful for researching potential candidates?
