As employers embark on the road to recovery, the ability to lead, recruit, and retain are key, according to Aon Consulting, a human capital consulting organization. In fact, findings of the 2009 Benefits and Talent Survey reveal that 85% of respondents cite talent retention as a top priority, and 84% the ability to meet talent/skills needs for leadership roles. However, many report that they are not effectively delivering these services. In fact, only 46% say they are very/extremely effective at retaining talent, while 38% claim the same about meeting talent/skills needs for leadership roles.
What’s more, 41% of respondents claim the greatest concern of their leadership shortage is the reduced ability to meet revenue goals and profitability targets. This was followed by both a reduced ability to innovate (19%) and deliver desired customer service levels (16%), according to the survey.
Furthermore, the biggest business risks faced include health and benefits costs (62%), unstable financial markets (59%), development and retention of talent (47%), regulatory and compliance issues (47%) and weakening global economies (44%).
