Cultural Fit is More Important than Experience for Contact Centre Recruitment

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, Nov 30, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — The UK call centre industry is expanding constantly. The trend to base call centers abroad in cheap locations is being reversed as companies respond to feedback regarding quality of service and the positive impression a UK based customer service team can create. Feedback from recruitment consultants and hiring managers is that high-caliber managers and staff are in strong demand.

Bersin & Associates Predicts that a Global Talent Imbalance Will Shape HR and Talent Strategies in 2012

OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Bersin & Associates, the premier research and consulting firm empowering Human Resource (HR) organizations to drive bottom-line impact, today announced that it predicts leading-edge HR teams will drive competitive advantage for their organizations by building a borderless, agile workplace with new and changed talent and learning strategies in 2012. These new strategies include the heavy adoption of social networking for recruiting, employment branding, learning, and collaboration; a focus on diversity and “GirlPower” to build leadership competencies for the future; and continual coaching and goal review to drive agile performance management.

Further Recruiting and Retention Challenges Ahead

According to the October Jobs Report released by Department of Labor, the number of people who voluntarily left their job increased from 967,000 in September to 1,070,000 in October (up 9.63%) – while organizations step up their retention efforts. TNS Employee Insights research indicates that strategies geared toward engagement can increase retention, yet employees are still discontent with their jobs. In another survey by Right Management, workers continue to feel trapped in their jobs and continue to want to (and do) find new employment elsewhere – with 84% of employees polled saying they plan to look for a new position in 2012. And those companies seeking to retain their talent should be worried, because according to yet other findings, these from Robert Half, professional level hiring is expected to rise in the first quarter of the new year. A full 87% of C-level executives responding to a Robert Half survey say they are somewhat confident in their organization’s ability to grow during this period, with a net increase in hiring of 10% expected (16% anticipate hiring, while 6% expect reductions).

Hidden Executive Job Market of Today Requires New Tactics to Land Your Next Position and Takes Longer Than Expected

www.ExecuNet.com — November 30, 2011 — Mixed economic signals of late further reinforce the notion that executive job search and career transition will continue to require a thoughtful campaign of several months to achieve success.

The findings of a new survey of 180 executive recruiters by ExecuNet, a private business and career network for senior management executives, reveal that currently employed business executives should expect to spend, on average, nearly seven months to find their next career opportunity, while those currently unemployed may require an average of just over 10 months to find their next senior-management job.

Professional Level Hiring Expected To Increase In First Quarter

MENLO PARK, CA — Employers expect to increase hiring for professional-level positions in the first quarter, but they have concerns about finding qualified candidates for these roles, a new Robert Half survey shows. A net 10 percent of executives interviewed for the Robert Half Professional Employment Report plan to add full-time staff in the first three months of the year, up three points from the fourth-quarter forecast. However, the number of respondents who report recruiting challenges also is on the rise: 67 percent of executives said it is at least somewhat challenging to find skilled employees today, up from 59 percent last quarter and42 percent in the third quarter.

The Real Reason

Barbara Bruno, President, Good as Gold Training, HRSearch Inc.

It is extremely important for you to uncover the real reason your candidates have given you their resume. Have you ever heard your candidates say, “You called me, I wasn’t looking!” If the truth be known, this person has thought about a job change and some have been quitting for months, even years, but didn’t know where to start. They realize you have access to opportunities and as a result sent you their resume.

Looking for “Superstars” in all the Wrong Places

November 30, 2011 — By Howard Stevens — Everybody has heard of the 80/20 rule. This concept is based on the research of Wilfried Fritz Pareto, an Italian engineer, sociologist, and economist, who discovered that 80% of the land in 19th century Italy was owned by only 20% of the population….and it tended to stay that way over time. The concept is often applied to sales. It assumes that 80% of your sales will come from 20% of your best salespeople. Based on their anecdotal experience, most sales execs would agree with you. The actual ratio (based on Chally Group Worldwide’s analysis of 900+ B-B sales forces across different industries) reveals that 52% of sales come from the top performers. Still an impressive effort and they are compensated handsomely for it.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 29, 2011 — Between September 1 and November 15, Retailers placed more than 72,000 new online job ads for Salespersons and Sales Managers, according to WANTED Analytics™, the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. However, hiring is still below pre-recession demand, down 11% from the same time period in 2007 when more than 81,000 jobs were advertised online during this two and a half month period. As holiday hiring continues and companies are optimistic about the sales season, job ads for seasonal and temporary positions are up 17% in comparison to the same time period during 2010.
