The Baby Boomers are retiring and the next generation, Gen X, isn’t nearly large enough to replace the talent. So employers of all sizes, shapes, and colors will need to replace the bulk of their Baby Boomer employees with members of Gen Y, and any way that you compare those two generations you’re bound to see significant differences.

Though healthcare delivery has changed dramatically in many ways – especially in recent years, one fundamental paradigm has remained the same – physicians still refer patients to hospitals and they are still the key drivers of both patient care and revenue throughout the health system. Indeed, the most powerful tool in healthcare remains the physician’s pen. Hospital patient admissions and discharges, tests, treatments, procedures – all require a physician’s signature.

Amid a rocky spate punctuated by a stock market in free fall and the implementation of the Troubled Asset Relief Program and ensuing American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, as well as a bevy of other hits both financial and psychological to the U.S. economy, the job market for new graduates had been floundering.

Among the more than 2,700 hiring managers and human resource professionals across industries that participated in CareerBuilder’s survey with USA Today, 23 percent reported that they increased their full-time, permanent staff in the first quarter of 2010.

I think it’s a great term and I’m finding today in business the term is getting more popular. Are more and more companies really heading down the green path? Yep, you can bet your Kindle on it! Whether touting sustainability in mission statements, annual reports or even on the bottom of most emails these days, companies are mentioning some kind of effort to be greener.

What if you’re the executive everyone loves to hate? Your career may have advanced nicely to this point due to your talent and expertise. But career advisers say that unless you modify your behavior, it’s unlikely that top management will continue to reward you.
